Refrigerants: contributions to climate change and ozone depletion.
Author(s) : FRASER P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
In the paper, the present contributions of CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs, from refrigeration and non-refrigeration sources, to global warming and ozone depletion are evaluated based on atmospheric observations made at Cape Grim, Tasmania, from 1979 to 1996. Future contributions to global warming and ozone depletion are calculated for the period 2000-2100, based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scenarios (IS92), assuming adherence to the Vienna 1992 version of the Montreal Protocol.
