ShareGuatemala ratifies the Kigali Amendment
Guatemala becomes the 156th country to ratify the Kigali Amendment.
On January 11, 2024, Guatemala ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, pledging to reduce the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants by 85% by 2047. Ratification of the Kigali Amendment is part of the Global Cooling Pledge commitments defined at COP28.
Guatemala is one of the sixty or so countries that have signed the Global Cooling Pledge, thereby contributing to the collective effort to reduce global emissions from cooling by 68% by 2050.
